Safety Base omnidirectional breakaway systems are designed to support traffic signals and light poles.
The system is designed to withstand external bending and torque caused by static and wind loads but engineered to instantly break when impacted by an errant vehicle while protecting the vehicle passengers from additional damage. Tested to a 55 ft, 945 lbs light pole at the Texas Transportation Institute and installed on poles as large as 60ft, 1200 lbs poles. Our couplers are the only breakaways which save the anchor bolts from getting damaged upon impact.
Unique to our system, the reaction plate not only protects the anchor bolts and allows for the uniform distribution of forces amongst couplers, but it also allows for retrofitting our system to bases of any size.

The SB501 breakaway system is an omnidirectional breakaway coupling designed to safely activate upon impact by an errant vehicle. The system fits a variety of smaller S-beams and is available in a variety of configurations.

Our SB503 breakaway system is used for square post roadside signage systems. It is designed to meet or exceed all required FHWA and AASHTO Standard Specifications for Structural Supports for Highway Signs, Luminaires and Traffic Signals. The system is designed to safely activate upon impact by an errant vehicle.
